Airline policies for transport of golf bag
Costs involved in taking a golf bag on holiday, vary per airline. With some airlines, transport of a golf bag is free of charge. This is indicated in our overview: free of charge.
Many airlines do not charge additional costs, provided the total amount of luggage -including the golf bag- does not exceed the maximum weight allowed, the so-called baggage allowance. Usually this is 20 kilos. In practice this means paying additional charges for excess baggage most of the time. Sometimes this is a fixed amount for one-way, but it can also depend on the weight of the excess baggage. The overview gives the variable costs. For instance € 0-80.
Some airlines always charge a fee for transport of a golf bag. In that case the fee is stated.
All amounts are based on a return flight.

Golf equipment
One set of golf equipment can include one pair of golf shoes in addition to the clubs and the golf bag. On normal scheduled flights, golf equipment is carried free of charge, if they are part of the baggage allowance permitted by the ticket. If the total baggage weight allowance is exceeded, a special excess weight charge is calculated for the golf equipment and this is applied to only one golf bag per customer.
The following excess charges are carried for golf equipment:
In Europe, when a scheduled flight is operated by Finnair and the ticket is issued with a Finnair flight number (AY), the charge for a golf bag, which exceeds the normal baggage allowance, is 15 euros one-way between Estonia, St. Petersburg, Stockholm and Finland, and 30 euros one-way between other European destinations and Finland. The golf bag may not weigh more than 15 kg/33 lb.
The charge for a golf bag, which exceeds the normal baggage allowance, is 70 euros one-way between Europe and the Far East, when the scheduled flight is operated by Finnair and the ticket is issued with a Finnair flight number (AY). The golf bag may not weigh more than 15 kg/33 lb.
