Royal Hua Hin Golf Course
This is one of Thailand's golf gems. Royal Hua Hin Golf Course is a matured natural golf course surrounded by beautiful scenery. The Royal was built early last century by a Scottish railway engineer. Most folks are surprised to know that Thailand golf goes back that far to 1924.
The 18 holes follow moderately hilly terrain around impressive limestone cliffs rising beside fairways lined with old growth trees that shade golfers who have wandered from the fairways. Natural hazards include ball-stealing monkeys that have been known to raid the course on rare occasions from the adjacent jungle. The course is usually well maintained, is great fun to play, and is very popular with visiting golfers.
Major renovations have been carried out regularly since Royal Hua Hin Golf Club opened in 1924, with the most extensive work being done in the 1980s. A round here is truly a highlight among golf experiences in Thailand, as players are continually faced with awe-inspiring views of the Gulf of Thailand. The par three 14th is a hole to behold, where a beautiful Thai temple forms a masterpiece background. A testament to the club's age, and that period in Thai history when the club was built, is the sight of the old Hua Hin, Bangkok-Singapore railway station that sits adjacent to the clubhouse, imbuing it with an air of historically significant elegance.
The original clubhouse has been preserved, and is located near the present clubhouse between number 10 tee and number 18 green. This treasured Hua Hin golf course plays to par 72 over 6,678 yards of pristine nature.
