Weekly 9 Hole Tournament

A weekly tournament is held every Thursday afternoon at the Phuket Country Club's new 9 hole course, except for the first Thursday of each month, when it will be held at Loch Palm Golf Club. Tee-off 2.30- 3.00 pm. Drinks and nibbles at the 19th Hole (the floating restaurant in Kathu) afterwards.

American wins May golf tournament

Phuket, May 28 - Chuck Sharp of the United States bested 48 other golfers on Thursday, May 27, to win the monthly tournament of the Phuket Expat Golf Society on the Blue Canyon Country Club's Lakes Course.

Sharp, from Las Vegas, shot 40-40 80 for 37 Stableford points off his 11 handicap. The runner-up, Irishman Peter Wood, another 11 handicapper, also garnered 37 points, but scored 42 on the back nine to be placed second.

Evan Buford, a six handicapper, won the lowest gross plate with a 41-39 for an 80.

Patong restaurateur Victor Agneessens, a Belgian, won Flight B with 44 points, shooting a 40-40 80 off a 23 handicap.

Bar-operator Pius Huber of Switzerland came in second with 39 points

Japanese golfers came in first and second in Flight C. Mitsuyuki San was first, with 40 points, and Yano Toshiaki was second, with 36.

Kanchana Pongsinchai, a Thai, won the longest drive competition, and nearest-the-pin prizes went to Sharp, Agneessens, Uberto Niccoli of Italy and Briton Roger Tunstill.
