In addition to everything the city itself has to offer, there is a fantastic choice of courses in and around the city, designed by professionals , many of which regarded to be the leading courses in Thailand. Most courses can be reached in one hour from the city centre, but make sure to avoid rush hours. Tell your driver to take the express way or go with a reliable and experienced golf tour operator such as Golforient, as our drivers know the quickest ways to and from the course, so you will not miss your tee-off time.

Bangkok and the surrounding area is realitively flat so you will find most courses are great if you wish to walk, however especially during the hot season, it is advisable to take a golf cart.

Venues like Navatanee Golf Course, Alpine Golf & Sports Club and Thai Country Club have hosted PGA tournaments.
Bangkok Golfing Information3If you ever wanted to play one of these great Thailand championship courses, here’s your chance. Thailand’s luxury golf tour operator Golforient, can include this exclusive course in your fully organized Golf Holiday. Alpine Golf Club, normally for member’s only, is where Tiger Woods won the Johnnie Walker Classic in 2000 and it is constantly ranked as the most challenging course in Bangkok. This (man-made) hilly tree-lined golf course requires exact calculations for every swing to avoid costly penalties. Nevertheless, this course is a real pleasure to play and its rolling fairways and undulating greens set it apart from any other course in Bangkok. If you have not experienced golf in Thailand, then Bangkok is the place to start. The city is also a good branching out point to combine with tours and golf in other cities.

Thai Country Club 4
The Thai Country Club is one of the most renowned courses in all of Thailand and constantly rated as one of the best ten courses in Asia. Run by the Peninsula Hotel, discerning golfers will appreciate this truly world-class golfing experience. As soon as you arrive everything is taken care for you, and the caddies are amongst the most well-trained in Thailand. This 18 hole course is always well maintained to a very high standard. There are some excellent challenging holes including one of the best Par 3’s in Asia, the 6th measuring 230 yards from the back tees with tough water guarding and bunkers at the green. After your round do spoil yourself by enjoying a meal in the award-winning club house makes you feel like you are at a 5 star hotel and golf resort. If you are in Bangkok, you should have at least tried this total golfing experience once.

Thai Country Club 5
Redesigned by Schmitt & Curley, the constantly upgrading Muang Kaew Golf Coursehas developed into a first class facility. As one of the closest courses to the city centre, this club is popular with locals, but still remains an oasis of peace just a few kilometers away from the busy Bangna-trad Highway. The slightly elevated greens, that are always in top condition are surrounded by bunkers and water, making it particularly challenging. Overall a good variety of holes with an exciting risk-reward par 5 13th, where the players have a blind tee shot and an approach shot over a large and intimidating water hazard. Highly recommended course for both long and short hitters, and you are also likely to come away with a low score too.
Subhapruek 6
Also close to town is the Subhapruek Golf Club, designed by Pete Dye, which is one of Bangkok’s hidden gems, scoring high on value for money. The challenging design with water on nearly every hole the design has caused many some wet results. Especially the 16th hole, a 146 yard par 3 to a small island green, with almost no margin for error making club selection critical. At the following two holes all your concentration is required when playing around a large lake with artificial waterfall.

Subhapruek 7
A bit further out on the north east of Bangkok, Lam Luk Ka Country Club provides a very relaxing day of golf with 36 holes. Laid out in beautiful countryside, both courses are surrounded by mature trees, well place bunkers and lakes, with an abundance of wildlife and exotic birds as your companions. Don’t let the absence of golfers and attractive green fee rates golf you, as this course is a real gem that in terms of playing conditions can keep up with all Thailand’s top courses. The greens are arguably the best putting surfaces in Bangkok and the fairways are often double-cut. The course features some unique 200+ yard par 3’s and challenging artificial hills on the fairway with blind water hazards behind them. Anyone visiting Bangkok golf a few rounds should put this course on the short list.

Riverdale02A recent addition to the Bangkok golf scene and winning a lot of fans is Riverdale Golf & Country Club. Carved into a valley deep into the historic Chao Phraya River Delta, designer Jon Morrow, who also created Red Mountain in Phuket has crafted an intriguing challenge featuring ‘up hill and down dale’ golf never before seen in the Thai Capital’s predominantly flat golf landscapes. With up to 30 metre variations, several holes feature play from elevated tees to fairways laid out in valleys below. Forested hills and waste areas with native grasses frame the most clearly visible golf holes in Bangkok. Riverdale features Salam Paspalum on tees and fairways, and the latest ‘ultra-dwarf Miniverde’ on greens, with multiple tee locations offering a challenge for all levels. Their modern clubhouse has an excellent restaurant overlooking the course, offering a 5 star service.

West of the city, new kid on the block Nikanti Golf Club is a unique concept of an 18 hole course with three loops of six holes, allowing rounds of 6, 12 or 18 holes over a short 6,850 yard layout. Designed by Pirapon Namatra, who also created Banyan Golf Club in Hua Hin, you are able to play two par 3’s, two par 4’s and two par 5’s in each 6 hole loop. The fairways are wide, featuring plenty of elevation changes and the greens are strongly undulated. The clubhouse is very modern and the service is tip top. A great addition not only to Bangkok’s list of courses, but also a very forward thinking concept for the future of courses around the world. Very chic operation indeed.
